Event description

Description

Celebrate and support Community Lawyers, Inc's mission to provide low and moderate-income people access to affordable legal services and assistance with their family law and immigration challenges.

Celebrating "A Tradition of Advocacy"

Proceeds from this year’s Justice Jam will support the CLI's weekly legal clinics and the naturalization application assistance program.

Since the launch of Community Lawyers Access Center (CLAC) in January 2009, CLI has provided legal information and services to more than 8,327 individuals and conducted more than 1,355 legal clinics, workshops, and information sessions.

Having your support during this year’s Justice Jam celebration will help provide hope and assistance to our local communities today and in the years to come.

This year's three honorees are:

Dr. Marilyn Banks | Dr. Banks has recently retired after working for decades in providing a better environment for severely disabled children in Compton schools through the LA County Office of Education. She is very engaging and involved in local churches as well.

The Immigrant Rights Project of Public Counsel | A first responder at LAX for those affected by the sudden travel ban and regulation changes. Public Counsel's Immigrants' Rights Project represents individuals seeking asylum in the United States based on past persecution or a well-founded fear of future persecution on account of political opinion, race, religion, nationality or membership in a particular social group. Also assists immigrants who have been abused by a US citizen or permanent resident, and victims of trafficking and other crimes.

The Project for the Innocent - Loyola Law School | Loyola Law School’s Project for the Innocent (LPI) is dedicated to the exoneration of the wrongfully convicted. Loyola Law School students are the heart and soul of the clinic, which is year long. If, after a thorough investigation of a case, a true claim of innocence is provable, clinic students will help draft a habeas petition so that the case can be litigated in court.

Keynote speaker will be announced soon.
