Description
Witness the recording of yet another very special episode of The 9pm Edict podcast, another PUBLIC HOUSE FORUM.
Yes, it’s a forum recorded in a public house, just like numbers one, two, three, four, and five. That is, it’s a forum in a pub.
Stilgherrian and his guests will gather around a table at THE WHEATSHEAF HOTEL in Thebarton to discuss the issues of the day, answer questions set by the podcast's supporters, and more.
GUESTS:
-
Katie Spain, editor of Fritz Magazine and GDAY Mag, and a writer for Broadsheet, Gourmet Traveller, and Wine Business Magazine Australia.
-
Dr Hannah Brown, expert in “everything from orgasm to childbirth”, or more formally a Postdoctoral Fellow in Paediatrics and Reproductive Health at the University of Adelaide.
-
Nicholas Fryer, contributor of The Arch Window and all-purpose misanthropist.
It's just like ABC TV's Q&A but with a little more self-respect. And, probably, a greater sense of danger. And you can sit and watch. And eat. And drink. Or just stand there.
Feel free to arrive from 12:00 when the pub opens, order in some lunch from a nearby eatery (see below), and have a drink or two. Or three. The recording starts at 14:00 or so.

14:00 PODCAST RECORDING BEGINS
15:30 Podcast recording ends, but there's no need to run away
FAQs
What’s the deal with lunch?
The Wheatsheaf doesn’t have a kitchen, but there’s a couple of funky eateries nearby so you can order in. Or use Menulog or Uber Eats or whatever to have things delivered. Or bring your own.
Will the podcast recording be streamed live?
Yes, at stilgherrian.com/edict/live and via Spreaker and its apps.
Why are so few tickets available?
The pub isn't infinite in size. The number of tickets reflects the number of people who fit into the area that we’ve booked. If there's vastly more interest than anticipated, we’ll expand further into the pub, and release more tickets.
Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?
The hotel is all-ages, but you must be 18+ to order or consume alcohol. Given the content and style of The 9pm Edict, this event is not recommended for anyone under the age of 15. Or for anyone under the age of 75. Or for anyone at all.
What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
Catch a free tram from North Terrace to the Thebarton stop, a route B10 or B12 bus from Currie Street, or a route 286 or 288 bus from North Terrace. Alight in Port Road, and head down George Street, the one with the derelict Squatters Arms Hotel on the corner. Walk past the auto parts and maintenance suppliers to the corner of Alfred Street.
If you’re driving, you’re sure to find parking nearby. Directions via Google Maps.
Is my registration/ticket transferrable?
Sure. Just let us know. It’s all just indicative numbers anyway.
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
No. We'll have your name on The List, which will doubtless be scrutinised by the relevant authorities.
