About this event

Most modern-day couples grapple with the same question: How can we be equals and in love, especially when faced with parenting challenges, digital distractions and our “always on” work culture? Nate and Kaley Klemp co-authored “The 80/80 Marriage: A New Model for a Happier, Stronger Marriage” to answer this question. In it, they outline a new model of marriage for today’s couples.

The concept of 80/80 marriage involves a shift in mindset, from trying to make everything in marriage and life 50/50-fair to a mindset of radical generosity. It also involves a shift in the structure of life, shifting an approach to relating from “What’s best for me?” to “What’s best for us?”

In this free webinar hosted by ParentMap, participants will learn several of the key insights and tools of the 80/80 model of relationships, including:

  • Why striving for 50/50 leads to resentment and conflict, and how it shows up most often in relationships.
  • How to shift to a mindset of radical generosity using two easy-to-implement habits.
  • Techniques for redesigning the structure of marriage around shared success.
  • A practical exercise for boosting connection that identifies your shared unique values related to success.

To get the most out of the event, order your copy of “The 80/80 Marriage: A New Model for a Happier, Stronger Relationship.” Prior to the event, we recommend completing the “Life Report Card” in chapter ten, ideally with your partner.

If you would like to purchase a copy of “The 80/80 Marriage,” select the book add-on during your event registration. The book will be mailed to your house.

Community of Mindful Parenting breakout session

Following the lecture, the conversation will continue during a special session facilitated by a trained Community of Mindful Parenting facilitator.

Attendees will be assigned to a breakout room to explore how couples can apply the Klemp model to their own relationship. Participants will discuss how to maintain a mindful and realistic approach to the 80/80 relationship model, what shared success looks like, how to stay in alignment with your partner and how to plan for rupture and repair. If you wish to participate in the free breakout session, please register under the ’add-ons’ section during registration.

We know you’re busy. If you can’t attend the live event, you can still participate! After the event concludes, all registered attendees will be emailed a link to watch the recorded session at their convenience. By joining in the live event, couples will have the opportunity to participate in an interactive Q&A with the speakers.
