Event description

Description

The PSU State of State Conference is an annual gathering of Penn State students, alumni, professors, administrators, and community members to start the conversation about Penn State issues.

We'll host 16 speakers from all around the Penn State community to talk about issues they've been tackling first hand. Throughout the day, our speakers will prompt roundtable facilitated discussions to create a group dialouge unique to State of State.

The topics of State of State 2018 will be as follows:

Free speech on campus: How far should free speech extend? How important is it to have an open dialogue? Should there be limits on what can be said?

Social stigma at Penn State: In what was do various social stigmas affect our community members? What outlets are available to address these issues and how could we improve upon them?

The impact of technology on the lives of students: What issues do we face with advancements in technology? What role does technology play in the Penn State community?

The effect of world events on minority community members: How have recent events affected people in the community? How do political decisions impact students directly? Are we aware of the extent of the impact?

Registration will open at 8:30AM and lunch will be provided. If you are unable to attend our conference in person, check out our social media accounts to join the conversation via our online livestream.
