WHAAM SLAM:  3 wild rounds, 1 famous visual pop artist, 1 winner takes $500.00

Presented by Busboys and Poets in celebration of National Gallery of Art’s “Roy Lichtenstein: A Retrospective” exhibition. The artist's iconic pop art will be the backdrop for this 3-round specialty slam.  Come prepared to push your creative limits in this big money slam guaranteed to be a night of surprises!

See below for slam details:

Round 1: (10 competitors) Poems inspired by one of Lichtenstein’s famous works, told from the perspective of the object/person in the painting

Round 2: (6 competitors) Head-to-Head Haiku round; poems will include a Lichtenstein exclamation (ie Whaam!)

Round 3: (3 competitors) Final Round, traditional slam, poets choice 

A poetry slam is a competitive event in which poets perform their original work and are judged by members of the audience. Typically, judges are selected randomly from the audience and are instructed to give numerical scores (on a zero to 10 or one to 10 scale) based on the poets' content and performance.
