About the Conference:

The Whitney M. Young, Jr. Memorial Conference is The Wharton School's African-American MBA Association (AAMBAA) premier annual event that celebrates the legacy of the author, humanitarian, educator and civil rights activist, Whitney M. Young, Jr. At the conference, prominent business and civic leaders will share reflections on the themes and experiences that have helped them chart their personal and professional paths to inspire and educate students, alumni, and business professionals.

Past speakers of the conference include Raymond McGuire (Global Head of Corporate and Investment Banking at Citi), Vernon Jordan (former adviser to Bill Clinton), Kenneth Chenault (CEO of American Express), Clarence Otis Jr. (CEO of Darden Restaurants), and Russell Simmons (Chairman and CEO of Rush Communications).

Our Theme:

Highlighted by the current American climate of economic, political and social divisiveness, American society has blatantly displayed the reality that many of its most revered institutions continue to undermine historically marginalized communities. Be it as it may, we find hope in advocating for the growing understanding that the marginalization of some, jeopardizes the prosperity of all.

For the 2018 Whitney M. Young Jr Memorial Conference, we focus on what we consider the heart of America’s Black Community. Within this heart, we source the leadership needed to elevate the stature of our society beginning with culture. Please join us as we explore how we have, and shall continue to Create, Elevate, and Own The Culture to offer growth, enlightenment, and wealth, not just for Black Americans, but for All Americans.
