Description

The 34th Annual Horizon Awards, presented by the Fresno Arts Council, will honor six (6) award winners nominated by the general public--that's YOU!--on Thursday, October 24, 2019, at the Tower Theatre located at 809 E. Olive Avenue in Fresno's historic Tower District. This year is especially unique as we will be featuring a talk and special performance from keynote speaker Vijay Gupta--celebrated violinist, social justice advocate, and winner of a 2018 MacArthur "Genius" Fellowship.

Please join us on October 24th to celebrate the gains and achievements of local artists, arts organizations, community advocates, and youth who work tirelessly to support our arts community here in Fresno County. General Admission Tickets are $25 each (total cost includes all fees).

Doors open at 5:00 PM. Event begins at 6:00 PM, following by a catered general reception featuring live music in the Tower District Lounge from 8:00 PM - 9:00 PM for all ticket holders.

This year's Horizon Award winners are:

  • Tyler Perkins for the Youth Award
  • Amy Morgan for the Artist Award
  • Jim Yovino for the Educator Award
  • San Joaquin Valley Town Hall for the Business Award
  • Anita Shanahan for the Citizen Award

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

This an all-ages event. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Is there assigned seating?

No, your ticket is for general admission. You may sit wherever you like inside the theatre, although some seats will be reserved for Fresno Arts Council staff, sponsors, special guests, and other dignitaries.


How many people can be seated at the Tower Theatre?

The Tower Theatre has 761 seats, including ADA-compliant seats reserved for those with physical disabilities. Some sections will be reserved for Fresno Arts Council staff, sponsors, special guests, and other dignitaries. General admission tickets will apply to available seating. All seats are located on the ground floor. There is no mezzanine seating available upstairs.


What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

There is free public parking available along the street throughout the Tower District, as well as public parking lots next to the Tower Theatre. Several Fresno Area Express (FAX) bus lines serve the Tower District: 22, 26, and 28. Bus stops are area located on or near Olive Avenue, from Palm Avenue to Maroa Avenue, at less than a ten-minute walk away.

What can I bring into the event?

The Tower Theatre prohibits drinks and food, except for popcorn and beverages (including alcoholic drinks) purchased on site during events.


Will this event be photographed and/or recorded?

Yes, there may be photography and other recordings during this event. By attending this event, each ticket holder consents to the use of their image for use by the Fresno Arts Council for publication in all media as well as for educational and/or promotional purposes.
