Join us for the 2019 MAAH Stone Book Award featuring WGBH's Callie Crossley and this year's winning author Julius S. Scott!

About this Event

Sponsored by the Museum of African American History (Boston and Nantucket) and the James M. and Cathleen D. Stone Foundation, the MAAH Stone Book Award encourages scholarship and writing within the field of African American history and culture by awarding a $25,000 prize to the author of an exceptional adult non-fiction book written in a literary style. Two prizes of $2,500 each are also awarded to two Finalists.

Join us for an evening of celebration and stimulating conversation at the 2019 MAAH Stone Book Award Event at the African Meeting House located at 46 Joy St. on Boston's Beacon Hill featuring WGBH Under the Radar host Callie Crossley and this year's Winning Author Julius S. Scott for The Common Wind. Finalists Mary Schmidt Campbell for An American Odyssey and Kellie Carter Jackson for Force and Freedom will also be in attendance!

Come at 5:30pm for a reception with wine and light refreshments where you can mingle with our discussant Callie Crossley and our winning authors, followed by the Award Ceremony in the historic sanctuary of the African Meeting House from 6:30 -- 7:30pm. The first 99 attendees will be given a free copy of one of the winning works with the opportunity to have the book signed by the author after the ceremony.

Tickets are free but SPACE IS LIMITED.
