Toys and gifts for age groups ranging from newborns to 20 year olds will be purchased, wrapped and delivered to local hospitals in the loving memory of Collin Tashari Rochester. As a thank you, FEMI would like to invite all sponsors to its 2017 Legends Showcase & Toy Drive, a wonderful celebration of “Real Music.” The atmosphere will be electric, and the line-up of singers and musicians is proving to be outstanding! Sponsors can also look forward to our guest DJ’s sizzling dance mixes! So we look forward to seeing you there!

‘Sadanyah’ Flowing Water was born and raised on Long Island. She is a proud member of the Montaukett Indian Nation. She received a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from Hofstra University, as well as an Associate of Arts in English from Nassau Community College. Sadanyah has been writing plays, fiction stories and poetry since she was a small child. Though she was published when she was just eight years old, and was nicknamed “The Class Poet” by several of her classmates and teachers, it took many years before Sadanyah actually recognized herself as a writer. It wasn’t until after she read Patrice Gaines’ Laughing in the Dark: From Colored Girl to Woman of Color--A Journey From Prison to Power, did she fully acknowledge that writing was more than a hobby to her. It was who she was. Like Gaines, Sadanyah had written her way through life. Despite traumatic experiences, trials and tribulations, the one thing that remained constant was that she wrote. She made peace with this truth one day while doing her spring cleaning. At the time she was recovering from an accident in which she, a pedestrian, was struck by a van. The accident made her think about the Creator, and how He must have rescued her from death for a reason. At any rate, that day she found marble notebooks, napkins, newspapers, magazines and shoeboxes on which she had transformed her feelings, memories, dreams, desires and prayers into poems. Therefore, this traumatic event and her reading of Gaines’ book helped her to find the discipline and courage to share with others that which she has been called by the Creator to give—herself through her writing.

Family Empowers, Motivates & Inspires Enterprises’ mission is to assist in urging individuals into a new age of healthy relationships that thrive and flourish despite demanding careers, hectic schedules, huge national deficits and unforeseen tragic events.
