Event Details

- Two Days, Three Meals, 400 Miles -

Join us for a late-September motorcycle ride through the Catskills.

We're offering a semi-guided, fully catered, all-day (or overnight) motorcycle outing for anyone who's looking to get out for a "Great Big (Glamping) Ride" the weekend of September 23-24.

We are offering two ticket options:

#1 Overnight Option - $65 ($40 Donation + $25 for camping/dinner; Sunday breakfast and lunch included)
Ride up to the Catskills Saturday afternoon and camp out overnight with us. Or stay in a local B&B (details below - rooms going fast!). Wherever you sleep, before turning in you'll be treated to campsite feast prepared by resident Chef Ken Aldin, whose cooking many of you already have enjoyed at one our events over the years. This 8-acre, 2-barn campground is actually Chef Aldin's home, and he's opening up his backyard meadow for this event. Or at least to the first 25 peoiple to register for this first portion of the event. Beer and bourbon will be provided. Sleep it off a little the next morning then rally for a late breakfast at 9:30 the next day before we start the Great Big Ride.

#2 Day Trip Option - $40 Donation (Sunday breakfast and lunch included)
Don't want to sleep in the Catskills? Don't worry, just come up for the day and join us for the 9:30 breakfast at a local Catskills bakery, where we'll have a full breakfast spread, and of course coffee. Lots of coffee. Following fueling, we'll follow a pre-planned route to get us through some of the area's best roads. The goal is to get across the Catskills and back  in time for a late lunch. After which we say our goodbyes and all get home safe before dark.

*Both ticket types include both Breakfast and Lunch on Sunday, 9/24, courtesy Union Garage & Belstaff.

Benefit: $80 per person goes to fight cancer.
Thanks to the generous sponsorship from Belstaff, every $40 registration fee will be matched 100%. So the basic $40 donation will become an $80 donation. All funds will be donated in one lump sum to the American Cancer Society, earmarked for prostate cancer research, in the name of Don DeVito.

Who is Don DeVito? Stay with us here... Don was an outsized personality with a storied career as an A&R executive with Columbia Records. Artists he worked with include Bob Dylan, Billy Joel, Aerosmith and Bruce Springsteen. More importantly, he was a loving husband, father and a friend to many. And he was the brother-in-law of our good friend Steve Kuperschmid. DeVito died in 2011 following a long battle with prostate cancer. Last year we produced a short documentary with filmaker Jason Harper that featured Steve's motivation behind joining the Distinguished Gentleman's Ride.

Who's going? Whether it's 10ppl or we hit the cap of 50 (25 max for camping, another 25 slots for day-trippers), it's going to be a good time. Unless it's a 100% chance of rain, in which case we'll be rescheduleing.

It's not a race. But nor is it a parade route. The pace will be "spirited," doing our best do abide by the local speed limits. It's very much a "ride your own ride" tempo, with multiple regroup points, and a route sheet you can tape to your tank.

Camping Equipment: You'll want a 3- or 4-season tent, a warm sleeping bag and quality bed roll. Good news: REI in NYC rents camping gear!

B&B: The Country Inn - Walking distance from the campfire and dinner. There's a cottage being held for us ("The Love Shack") that will sleep 4-6 compforably, more if spooning. Plus they have two regular rooms left. Owner Diane is an oncology nurse and a big supporter of the effort! Rooms for the ride will be held through 9/13 - act fast.
>> 1380 County Rte 2, Olivebridge, NY 12461, email Diane at or call (845) 657-2124

B&B: Elmrock Inn - They have a few rooms left that will sleep from 2 to 4 people. Even with a two-night minimum they're reasonable rates. Or stay two nights and make the most of the trip! Within 10 miles of campsite/dinner.
>> (845) 687-4492, 4496 US-209, Stone Ridge, NY 12484

Saturday Route: We will provide a suggested route up to the camptite for Saturday afternoon, as well as our destination coordinates in an update email in the days before the ride. A few of us will be going up early to set up. All you'll need to do is show up by mid to late-afternoon to set up a tent and get all sorted out before dinner.

Sunday Route: Following a 9:30 breakfast we'll be doing about a 125-150-mile loop. It can be run as a slightly shorter out-and-back, or do the full loop and get back in time for late lunch before heading back home.
