The Moonlight Challenge is unlike any other Drone Race you’ve ever been a part of. It will push you, your team, and your equipment to your limits. To win you’ll have to use tactics and strategy along with sheer speed and maneuverability. You’ll have to stay in constant communication with your team, and work in sync to reach the finals. It will take teamwork, speed, battery-capacity, communication, and brain power to win The Moonlight Challenge on November 12th, 2016.
It’s part drone race, part scavenger hunt, and part secret mission, all in moonlit darkness. Teams use night vision equipped multirotors to find up to six infrared illuminated beacons in a remote 1/2 mile square desert playing field. The beacons are each labeled with a unique IR illuminated code, visible through the night vision enabled flight camera. The first team of the heat to return with the correctly decoded message advance to the next round, until only the winning team is left. The Grand prize will be $1000 in cash, other prizes to be announced…
The exact location will be disclosed to all racers at the 3:00pm orientation on race day.
