Description
Join the IOP as we welcome David Litt, former speechwriter for President Barack Obama. Mr. Litt joined the White House speechwriting team in 2011, having worked as a field organizer on the 2008 campaign and interned with West Wing Writers. By 2014, he had been promoted to Special Assistant to the President and Senior Presidential Speechwriter. As one of the youngest speechwriters in presidential history, Mr. Litt earned a reputation as the president’s go-to humorist, writing jokes for four White House Correspondents’ Dinners.
Since leaving the White House in January 2016, Mr. Litt has become head writer and producer for Funny or Die’s Washington, D.C. office. His new book, Thanks, Obama: My Hopey, Changey Years in the White House, offers both a humorous reflection on his journey through politics and a meditation on President Obama’s legacy.
Institute of Politics Director David Axelrod will lead the discussion.
Book sales to follow, provided by The Seminary Co-op.
