Event description

Description

Join textile maker and MA student Sally Bourner for these creative and playful workshops while learning a new skill. Each workshop will focus on a different textile technique: Rag Rug, Textile coiling, Weaving, Giant French Knit and, lastly, a session focusing on combining methods/ working with your favourite. Book to come to all sessions, or simply the ones that interest you the most.

This weeks session focuses on Rag - rug: A technique using strips of fabric or wool and a hook to build a highly textured surface, draw a design using the technique or let your work emerged through the process.

These workshops are free and are an opportunity to get creative in a non-pressured and playful environment. The workshops will also form part of a research study into textile techniques, mindfulness and creative flow for the University of Brighton by Sally Bourner – By attending the workshops, you are also taking part in the study.

What does this mean?

This means that while the workshop progresses you may be asked to give feedback or reflections on your experiences of the workshops and processes we explore. There also maybe some filming and photography in the sessions – you will be asked for your permission before any filming and photos of you or your work are taken.

All materials and tools will be provided as well as refreshments and snacks.
