AIR 17 Open Studios: On Saturday, December 13, from 1 pm - 4 pm,
Come to Textile Arts Center (505 Carroll St, Brooklyn, NY 11215) and learn about the work of our current AIR artists. Our AIR 17 Open Studios are a chance to speak with the residents about their practice, see their processes up close, and have a peek into what they have been exploring during their introductions to different textile techniques.
TAC's AIR 17 are:
TAC AIR combines studio access with a rigorous interdisciplinary curriculum, and regular critical dialogue, providing residents an opportunity to learn and explore the textile medium, and an alternative to traditional higher education programs. The residency culminates in a group exhibition produced and hosted by TAC. Since 2010, TAC AIR has graduated over 100 artists and designers whose work continues to further textile art within the fashion, fine arts, design and art education fields.
December WIP Open Studio:
TAC's December Work-in-Progress resident, Anna Ill, will be sharing about her work on Saturday, December 13, 3 - 7pm + Sunday, December 14, 1 - 5pm.
Anna Ill (Vilanova i la Geltrú, Barcelona, 1990) is a London-based visual artist. She holds an MA in Art and Space from Kingston University, London (2017), a BA in Textile Art from Escola Massana, Barcelona (2014), and a year course in Decoration from École Boulle, Paris (2015).
In 2025, she was commissioned to create a permanent public sculpture for Una Boccata d’Arte in Simeri, Italy. Her work received the Acquisition Prize at Contextile 2024 (Portugal) and was selected for the Antoni Vila Casas Sculpture Prize (Spain).
Anna Ill has held solo exhibitions at L&B Gallery, Barcelona (2023); Centre Cultural La Mercè, Girona (2022); Filet Space, London (2020); and Sensei Gallery, London (2016).
She has participated in numerous international group exhibitions including Sid Motion Gallery (London, 2025), Fundació Úniques (Barcelona, 2025), Textile Arts Center (NY, 2024), Wonzimer (LA, 2023); Fundació Vila Casas (Barcelona, 2021-24); Laterna Magica Museum (Copenhagen, 2022); Sala Parés (Barcelona, 2018); Incheon Art Platform (Seoul, 2018); Le Beffroi of Montrouge (Paris ,2017), Spazio Culturale Antonio Ratti (Como, 2018).
Her residencies include All Art Now (Online, 2021), In-Ruins (Italy, 2021), Jiser (Tunisia, 2019), and the JCE Biennale (Paris, 2017).
Textile Arts Center’s Work in Progress (TAC WIP) is a window into the studio practice of contemporary artists and designers that engages the public in a dialogue with the field of textiles.
