Text and Trowelf: A Symposium of Archaeology and the Bible is an exciting combination event of engaging lectures and a guided museum tour featuring artifacts from the ancient world of the Bible. Dr. Scott Stripling, Directing Archaeologist of the Shiloh excavation, and Dr. Craig Evans, world renown New Testament scholar will present lectures delving into the world of the Bible and recent archaeology. Following the lecture series guests can tour the museum exhibit, Khirbet el-Maqatir & a Journey through Biblical History, with Dr. Stripling, Dr. Evans and other archaeologists as their guides. The museum features over 250 artifacts from the ancient world and many exciting examples from the site of Khirbet el-Maqatir - likely Ai of the book of Joshua and possibly Ephraim from the book of John.

The schedule is as follows:

8:30 - 9:00 A.M. - Registration

9:00 - 9:45 - “Were there Cynics at Sepphoris of Galilee? What does Archaeology Tell us about the World of Jesus?” – Dr. Craig Evans

10:00-10:45 - “Murder at Maqatir: The Grim Fate of those who hid from the Romans” – Dr. Scott Stripling

11:00-11:45 - “‘On this Rock . . .’ Bethsaida and the Promise to Peter” – Dr. Craig Evans

12:00 – 12:45 - “‘Go now to Shiloh’: Have We Found the House of God?” – Dr. Scott Stripling

12:45 – 1:15 - Panel discussion

1:15 - 3:00 - Lunch & Break

3:00 - Museum tours begin every half hour

Chose a combo ticket to see hear the lectures and see the exhibit later that evening! The museum visit is a timed entry and has limited availability - we recommend you reserve your spot early.

Tickets to attend only the lectures or the museum tour are also available.
