Event description

Description

This workshop will explore some ways that you can analyze collections of text, including a popular method known as topic modeling. Topic modeling can find groups of words that tend to occur together and show how these groups are distributed across a collection as a whole. This can identify fascinating patterns in texts and reveal aspects of language that are difficult to see through close reading. This workshop will help you get started with topic modelling using MALLET and provide you with a basic understanding of how the method works and how you can best interpret the results. Come prepared with curiosity and excitement for the patterns that topic modelling can reveal in language use. You do not need programming experience to participate in this workshop.
