WE'RE SORRY; ALL EVENTS AT NHG HAVE BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO THE TORNADO.

Native plants, month by month!

An intro to Texas natives and the many benefits they provide the whole year through, along with tips on their maintenance.

Now is a great time to make a new gardening year resolution in advance: to learn about, plant and enjoy Texas' many wonderful plants every month of next year. With the guidance of NHG's Dana Wilson, we’ll look at one great native plant to grace the garden for each month of the year in this free class.

We’ll also focus on a 'wild native' per month – those that are less common in nurseries and home gardens, but that are easily found in parks and other natural habitats in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, and that you'll definitely want to know about. Finally, we’ll review month-by-month gardening strategies on all these to get them started, and help your own garden flourish and look its best January to December.

Yes, there's plants for many kinds of bees, birds, and butterflies, but this is your chance to gain even more insight into what it means to truly go native!

Dana Wilson is a native Dallasite, and she attended Lake Highlands High School, TCU, and UNT. She is a member of the North Texas Chapter of the Texas Master Naturalist Program and the Dallas chapter of the Native Plant Society of Texas. With North Haven Gardens since 2016, she has shared her Texas native expertise as Garden Advisor and speaker, and currently functions as Events Coordinator, handling all of NHG's private events.

To learn more about the tough plants Texas has for every landscape, support the Native Plant Society of Texas and Texas Native Plant Week October 13-19.
