Hello IoT developers and IoT curious residents of RDU!
In partnership with MEDIC | The Medical Innovators Collaborative and the Hackster IoT Raleigh meetup, we present the Texas Instruments IoT workshop. In this session you will get a chance to understand how to take a piece of hardware and connect that to the internet and begin to understand what applications are possible once that link is established. This is not another abstract lecture on what is possible with IoT, but a true hands-on experience to take you through an end to end example with real TI hardware and cloud services.
We will be hosting the workshop at AIS in Imperial Center near RTP.
The workshop will have limited hardware setups so we will work in pairs. We will be able to support about 40 people in the workshop. You will need to bring a laptop with you if you wish to participate with the hands on portion. If you do not bring one, you will need to pair with someone who has. Please download the Energia IDE which we will use to program the TI LaunchPad boards that we will use: www.energia.nu/download.
This training is open to anyone who is interested in learning more about IoT. No previous experience required. If you do not wish to particpate in the hands on portion but still want to listen to the material, you are welcome to sit in.
In the workshop we will be using TI's MSP432 LaunchPad. This is a very low power ARM Cortex-M microcontroller development board perfect for general purpose IoT exploration. We will also use the TI CC3100 Wi-Fi module to connect our system to the internet. We will also explore some inputs and outputs with TI's Educational BoosterPack MKII.
We will have some light snacks, but it is recommended to get dinner before the start of the workhop. You are welcome to bring food to the classroom.

MEDIC is a non-profit organization focusing in innovation, education, and training in the medical space. MEDIC pairs innovators and medical device companies that have great ideas but lack time and resources to execute them with student teams who help turn those ideas into real products.
Hackster IoT Raleigh is a local meetup group focusing on electronics and Internet of Things. Everyone is welcome to participate in their monthly events hosted on meetup.com.
