Description

Please join the National Coalition on Heath Care and the Center for Health and Social Policy at The University of Texas at Austin for a discussion with scholars, experts, and stakeholders in health and health care at the Health Today, Health Care Tomorrow summit on Thursday, March 29, 2018 (9am-12:30pm) at the LBJ School of Public Affairs at The University of Texas at Austin. (Note: Registration closes on March 27 at 12 noon CST.)

The forum will focus on what the research says about three major challenges:

  • Children’s health care and health, including the lifelong impacts of adverse childhood experiences and the early onset of chronic diseases
  • The changing demographics of the patient population in Texas and nationally
  • Social determinants of health that contribute to the rising incidence of chronic conditions

We will then examine policy options and advances in practice to address these challenges, including:

  • Improvements in the delivery and coordination of care
  • Better integration of medical care and social services
  • Advanced payment models and reforms in the structure and rules of private insurance and social insurance programs
  • Advances in medical education to prepare physicians and other providers for the challenges ahead
