Join us under the full moon of Tevet as we enter the dark of winter and celebrate the courageous gifts of women!
In Tevet, the winter solstice month, we celebrate the darkest time of year by honoring the darkness of the womb. Underground, the seeds are resting before the energy starts to rise again around Tu B’shvat—which we celebrate next month. Inside each one of us is a womb of creative imagination. We will draw on our creative female source to craft, tell stories, and nurture ourselves as we renew and prepare for the next phase.
Rosh Chodesh Tevet is also known as Yom Yehudit, or Chag Banot (festival of the Daughters) when we tell folktales of Jewish women. We learn about the courageous acts of Judith and of Shalom Tzion—the Macabbean queen who brought peace back to the kingdom.
Come prepared to introduce a courageous woman in your lineage, or a woman that you admire. If you can, bring a picture of her or an object that represents her. In addition, there will be a storytelling workshop, a healing workshop, and a crafting workshop available to all!!
Remember to bring: a vegetarian potluck dish to share along with personal eating ware—plate, bowl, utensils. Dress warmly! If the weather doesn't allow us to be outdoors, we will meet in our cozy heated tent, so don’t let the cold or rain stop you from joining us! We’ll stay warm together in the cold of winter!!
