Event Details

Do you want to help hard-working, motivated, and dedicated teens achieve their scholastic and personal goals? Do you want to utilize your personal and professional skillset in a fast-paced and impactful volunteer opportunity? Come Celebrate 50 years of academic excellence with the Orange County Academic Decathlon!

Test Proctors are needed to administer tests to a classroom of students, maintain order in the test room, and distribute/collect materials. There are two proctors per test room. Proctors must be objective and professional, able to clearly read directions aloud, and follow specific testing procedures. This is the perfect opportunity for future and retired education professionals! Time commitment: 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Super Quiz Proctors are needed to supervise and monitor a team of decathletes on the floor during the lively Super Quiz Relay. The Super Quiz Relay is a public event in which 40+ teams compete in front of a live audience in a high school gymnasium. A brief orientation will be provided prior to the event. Time commitment: 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The OCAD program is uniquely designed to challenge and engage students of all varying academic abilities. Teams are comprised of nine students from each high school - 3 "A" students, 3 "B" students, and 3 "C" students who compete in a series of ten academic events.

If you are interested in being part of this spirited and rigorous event competition, please register above!

Volunteers should be at least 18 years old and a high school graduate.  Parents who volunteer will not be placed in the same area as their child. Registered volunteers will be emailed an information packet and map two weeks prior to the event.

It is very important that all volunteers arrive promptly on competition day. If a volunteer becomes unavailable, it is critical that the Project Liaison be contacted prior to the competition day to avoid incomplete judging teams. A missing volunteer can delay the start of the competition for our students. For additional information, please contact Ron Segundo at 714-966-4316 or
