Terrorism for the Clinician: Management of exposures to chemicals, radiation & biotoxins

No cost for attendance.

OBJECTIVES:

  1. List clinical presentations of chemterrorism agent exposures, radiation, and biotoxins for early identification of cases
  2. Describe the role of the Poison Center in surveillance for, and diagnosis and treatment of, individuals exposed to terrorism agents
  3. Discuss treatment modalities for individuals exposed to chemterrorism agents, radiation, and biotoxins

MEET THE POISON CENTER EXPERTS AND LEARN ABOUT:

  • Nerve agents
  • Phosphine
  • Biotoxins: botulism, ricin, trichothecene mycotoxins
  • Radiation
  • Cyanide
  • Choking/riot control agents: phosgene, chlorine, tear gas
  • Vesicants: mustards, Lewisite, phosgene oxime
  • Chemical/bioterrorism incident surveillance: role of the Poison Center and role of the clinician.
