Class includes demonstrations on terrarium tools, and detailed instructions on how to create your own mini self-contained terrarium!

Class Overview: Tropical Terrarium Basics is a hands-on class exploring the art of building lush, self-contained ecosystems. Participants will learn how to choose the right container, plants, layer soil and drainage, and design beautiful miniature landscapes. They will also learn tips on maintenance, lighting, and creative hardscapes. Leave with your own thriving tropical terrarium and the knowledge to keep it flourishing at home.

Outcome: Each participant will go home with their own closed terrarium ecosystem, and the foundational knowledge to continue the hobby.

About the Instructor: Andrew Stuckey is a terrarium artist living in Chapel Hill. He began building terrariums as a hobby, but quickly graduated to intricate, structured builds of lush cliffs, tropical staircases, and secret caves. This led to the founding of Piedmont Moss & Magic, providing unique, artistic terrariums for sale. Andrew previously spent 15 years as a high school and middle school English and Social Studies teacher, and currently works as an on air host and music director at 97.9 The Hill, WCHL in Chapel Hill.
