Terp Lab: January

By Signing Centric

Overview

A day for BSL-EN translation and interpreting students, TSLI, TSLT, and early career RSLI and RSLT fewer than 3 years post-qualification.

Welcome to Terp Lab: January!

This is the first Terp Lab event, and what better way to start the new year!

The intention behind this is to create a sense of community and provide a space to test ideas that you have been learning about. Each day will follow a similar format: a planned topic in the morning, and in the afternoon, a participant-led session for discussion, debate, and practical workshops.

If you are a student, trainee or early-career translator or interpreter, come and join us!

Establishing a professional identity

Adrian Bailey

A workshop focusing on some of the practical issues in establishing a professional identity. Some of the areas for consideration - how to go freelance, what to look for from agencies, a summary of the professional associations - and some things to consider as you transition from socialising in the deaf community, to now also working within it.

2:00 PM - 4:00 PM

Open discussion

Open discussion, practical activities, ethical dilemmas and skills development as led by you. Bring your thoughts, issues and queries to the group!
