In this workshop, we will be introducing the style of Longform Genre Narrative Improv with an emphasis on the Tennessee Williams genre.

About this Event

This workshop will give students a sample of what the full-length course will feel like.

You'll learn the importance of ensemble building, drilling solid scene-work with emphasis on relationship and emotion, and honing in on the long-form genre of the great American playwright Tennessee Williams. We will be learning his themes, tropes, monologue styles, character types, and heightened language into our stories.

About The Instructor

Mallie McCown was introduced to theatrical improv at Chicago’s Piven Theatre at an early age. She then moved to Los Angeles where she studied with UCB, Second City; Hollywood, Comedy Sportz LA, and Impro Theatre. McCown was also a professional sketch comedy writer for Parallel Entertainment during her time in LA and recently returned from the UK where she received her Masters’ from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Shakespearean Text and Performance. She also recently performed with Shakespeare’s Globe in London before returning to the States.
