The MBU will take place at the Tennessee Military Department Headquarters on Saturday April 30th at 3041 Sidco Drive, Nashville, TN.

For those traveling outside the immediate area, be advised that the headquarters is in the Central time zone.

Question 3

Security

This is a guarded facility. Registration lists will be provided to the entry control point and all adults must show a valid government ID (example: Drivers License) in order to enter the campus.

Parking

After passing through the entry control gate, turn left and follow the signs. There will be signs and volunteers that will direct you to parking lot C on the southwest corner of the property.

Gate Entrances

Note that there is no entry on Armory Drive or Powell Avenue. The only gate is on Sidco Drive and it is accurately reflected on Google Maps.

Check-In

After parking in lot C, follow the signs and volunteers to the Hall of Flags for check-in and opening ceremonies. Check-in will take place 0700-0750. Signs above each check-in table will indicate which table to report to, by Troop.

Gift Bags

Accepted Answer

Every registered participant will receive a gift bag. Amongst other donated goods, there will be a lanyard to allow participants to display their name tag. Note that the name tag also serves as a meal ticket and must be worn at all times. Each gift bag also has a commemorative patch for the MBU.

Counselor Check in

Merit Badge Counselors will pickup a packet for their class behind registration 0700-0745. Each packet contains a roster, blue cards, and merit badge worksheets.

Instructional Periods

There are two instructional periods. The morning period takes place 0830-1130. The afternoon instructional period takes place 1230-1530.

Merit Badges Work

Earning a Merit Badge is not guaranteed. Each Scout will be expected to work on the associated badge requirements. Some steps may need to be performed before or after the event, such as the 12-week fitness program as part of the Personal Fitness Merit Badge. See merit badge workbook for details.

Adult Participation

Adults that remain on campus are free to sit in on any of the merit badge offerings. However, only registered adult leaders are permitted to take offsite transportation and only if seating is available after all Scouts are seated.

Lunch

Lunch will take place 1130-1230 in the Hall of Flags for any registered participants and volunteers. Name tags will serve as a proof of registration.

Leaving for Lunch

Adults are free to leave the installation to secure alternate food options for themselves or their Scout. However, we ask that parents/guardians do not take Scouts off post until the event dismisses at 1600.

Dress Code

All registered participants are requested to wear BSA Class A uniforms. All Military Department Volunteers will wear their duty uniform.

Leaving Early

If a parent or guardian needs to check-out a Scout prior to 1600, registration will need the Troop’s registered event leader to verify the identity of the parent/guardian and sign the Scout out with registration for accountability purposes.
