SPEAKER BIOGRAPHY: Dr. Jill Wade practices dentistry in the heart of Frisco Texas, (the home of the Dallas Cowboys International Headquarters). For the past 25 years, Dr. Wade has enjoyed utilizing her natural artistic and creative talents to enhance smiles in her successful high-tech cosmetic and general dentistry practice. She is an international lecturer on dental wellness and laser dentistry.

Aside from her professional career, Dr. Wade has twin 11-year-old daughters and is founder and CEO of Relevance Health – The Center for Online Dental Wellness Education and Relevance Total Health a unique facility that bridges the gap between medicine, dentistry and genetics. She has been featured on TV, radio, and numerous published articles, while co-authoring the book “Address the Stress – The Relevant Guide to Dental Wellness” and “Hygiene with Heart”.

Dr. Jill Wade DDS MAGD and co-host Aurelia Bryne RDH launched the podcast “SymplifiHealth”, where like-minded professionals share medical advice that re-defines healthcare.

COURSE TITLE: Why (…and How) You Should Be Talking About HPV in Your Practice


COURSE DESCRIPTION: The human papillomavirus (HPV) has single-handedly changed the face of oropharyngeal cancer. Now, more than ever, screening for oral and head and neck cancer cannot be limited to just men over 60 who use tobacco and alcohol regularly. As clinicians, we must have a working knowledge of how HPV causes oropharyngeal cancers and be ready to answer question our patients might ask: Who is susceptible to HPV? What are the risk factors for contracting the virus? What is the connection between oral HPV and cervical HPV? Is the HPV vaccine effective for oral cancer prevention? Learn how to introduce the subject of HPV when talking to your patients about oral cancer and/or systemic health. Understand how you, as an oral health care provider, can offer HPV testing in your office and play a meaningful role in the systemic health of your patients.


1. The learner will understand how the human papillomavirus causes oral cancer and how HPV has changed the face of oral cancer.

SPEAKER: Dennis M. Abbott, DDS

SPEAKER BIOGRAPHY: Dennis M. Abbott, DDS is the CEO of Dental Oncology Professionals, an oral medicine practice dedicated to meeting the unique dental and oral health care needs of individuals battling cancer and cancer survivors. His unique approach to dentistry combines the broad scope of general dentistry with oral medicine and an understanding of the oral effects of oncology therapy for all types of cancer to build and implement an individualized treatment plan for the medically-compromised patient to achieve dental clearance and maintain oral and systemic health throughout the cancer journey and into survivorship. Dr. Abbott’s decision to take his practice in the direction of dental oncology stemmed from recognizing a need in a patient in remission from lung cancer and a realization that others with cancer were likely suffering similar destruction of the dentition. Since then, he has become one of the leading experts in the field of dental oncology. Dr. Abbott lectures internationally on subjects related to dental and oral health care in cancer patients and cancer survivors, topics in oral and head and neck cancer, and oral health care issues related to the medically-compromised patient. Dr. Abbott is also the founder of the American Academy of Dental Oncology.

After graduating from Rice University and Baylor College of Dentistry with honors, Dr. Abbott completed studies in immunology, microbiology, and oral medicine at University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine. In addition to maintaining a full-time private practice, Dr. Abbott is an active member of the medical staff of Baylor Charles A. Sammons Cancer Center and Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas. He is the author of numerous articles and papers and a co-author of the American Cancer Society Head and Neck Cancer Survivorship Care Guidelines.
