SPEAKER: Dennis M. Abbott, DDS

SPEAKER BIOGRAPHY: Dennis M. Abbott, DDS is the CEO of Dental Oncology Professionals, an oral medicine practice dedicated to meeting the unique dental and oral health care needs of individuals battling cancer and cancer survivors. His unique approach to dentistry combines the broad scope of general dentistry with oral medicine and an understanding of the oral effects of oncology therapy for all types of cancer to build and implement an individualized treatment plan for the medically-compromised patient to achieve dental clearance and maintain oral and systemic health throughout the cancer journey and into survivorship. Dr. Abbott’s decision to take his practice in the direction of dental oncology stemmed from recognizing a need in a patient in remission from lung cancer and a realization that others with cancer were likely suffering similar destruction of the dentition. Dr. Abbott lectures internationally on subjects related to dental and oral health care in cancer patients and cancer survivors, topics in oral and head and neck cancer, and oral health care issues related to the medically-compromised patient.
