April 16th - Introduction to the Living Product Challenge

The Living Product Challenge was created to synthesize complex multi-attribute data, including social justice and equity, into a unified tool for responsible material creation and selection. This webinar will help you understand the business case for manufacturing living products as well as helping consumers make quick and informed decisions about sustainable product selection.

May 19th - Living Building Challenge in Affordable Housing: Findings from the Field

Affordable housing projects are uniquely situated to benefit from the application of the Living Building Challenge. A new report by the ILFI explores social, regulatory, and financial barriers to achieving the Challenge in affordable housing with an emphasis on the three most challenging Petals (Net Positive Water, Net Positive Energy and Materials). This webinar takes an in-depth look at findings of the report and includes stories and lessons learned from affordable housing projects in North America.

May 28th - Declare - Materials Transparency

Material health and ingredient disclosure is a growing concern for the building production industry. Declare, the Ingredients label for building products, is leading the charge for a remaking of the materials industry to embrace transparency and toxic chemicals avoidance by displaying ingredient information in a simple, easy to use format. This webinar will introduce the Declare program and give both specifiers and manufacturers the knowledge and skills they need to use the Declare label as a tool for market transformation.

June 25th - Materials Petal How-To: Tips and Tricks from LBC Project Teams

From the Red List to Responsible Industry to Living Economy Sourcing, the Materials Petal is viewed by many as one of the most challenging Petals to achieve in the Living Building Challenge. This webinar begins by briefly reviewing the philosophy and requirements of each imperative. However, the primary focus will be on the sharing of process approaches, tools, and resources, as well as lessons learned about best practices from project teams that have successfully completed Living Building Challenge projects.

July 16th - Handprinting

This session includes a brief overview of the Living Product Challenge and then will dive into Handprinting. It will explore what handprinting means for organizations today and look at positive real-life examples of successful handprinting methods. It will seek to inspire participants to join in the challenge, and to answer questions about how they can do so.

September 22nd - LPC Tools # The Footprint Calculator

The Living Product Challenge (LPC) includes several imperatives that call on companies to first understand the footprint of their product - identifying the processes that are the main contributors to the product’s overall footprint. This webinar will show attendees how to download, install, and use the Footprint Calculator to address the LPC imperatives for which it relates.

September 24th - LPC Tools #2 The Handprint Calculator and Product Life Database

The handprint calculator is a tool that enables manufacturers to begin to estimate the handprints that they can generate by improving the life cycle environmental performance of their products. This webinar will also introduce attendees to the Product Life Database, a compendium of publicly-obtained information related to the use phase of consumer products which enable the use phase to be taken into account along with pre-use and end-of-use impacts when doing footprint and handprinting analysis.

October 15th - Net Positive Materials Health

The Living Product Challenge introduces a new framework for material health and green chemistry where the creation of each product actually reduces the total amount of toxic chemicals in the environment. This webinar will explain how a manufacturer conducts a materials inventory and screens chemicals to determine a Material Health Footprint for the Living Product Challenge.

December 10th - Healthy Materials Selection and Living Specifications

From the growing number of projects pursuing Materials Petal certification through the Living Building Challenge to the release of the new Materials Credits within LEED V4, the industry is changing fast. In the midst of this, architects are finding it challenging to research and identify appropriate and safe materials on a tight timeline and budget. At the same time, project circumstances or lack of information can result in contractors and subcontractors substituting less healthy alternatives. Ensuring that all the materials in a project are safe for occupants and construction workers requires a new approach to design, specification, and construction. This webinar will explain this new approach – walking you step-by-step through the ways that pioneering project teams and building owners are able to overcome obstacles to ensure healthy materials.
