OPEN, NO REGISTRATION REQUIRED Friday, April 26, 6:30pm to 9:00pm: Presentation at A.T. Still University

Beth Ruggiero-York will deliver a 2 to 2.5 hour presentation on her night photography and night photography techniques. She will focus on dark sky photography, including Milky Way and star trails. She will also talk about equipment needed. This Friday night presentation is FREE to all and DOES NOT require registration.

SOLD OUT Saturday, April 27, 5:30pm to ???: Hands-On Shooting Workshop

Beth will conduct a Night Photography Workshop on Saturday night. The group will meet onsite at Picketpost Mountain Trailhead, near Superior, Arizona (about 60 miles from downtown Phoenix, Beth will provide detailed directions) at 5:30pm for pre-shoot instruction. Sunset is at 7:05pm, and end of Astronomical Twilight (full dark) is at 8:35pm. It is a dark night (no moon). Participants will shoot through sunset and the Blue Hour as they prepare for the dark sky shoot. Beth will guide them in shooting landscapes with single-exposure star trails and stars as points. The galactic core of the Milky Way rises at 11:04pm and remains visible until 4:06am on April 29. Participants will have plenty of time to shoot the Milky Way with Picketpost Mountain in the foreground. Beth will be helping them with composition and exposure. Picketpost Mountain Trailhead is in the Tonto National Forest and is one of the best locations to photograph night subjects with minimal light pollution. The trailhead has a large parking area and pit toilets.

Workshop participants should bring: Cameras, lenses, extra batteries, memory cards, remotes, tripods, water, chair and snacks. Participants will be provided with handouts on the material covered and an equipment list. The Workshop and Class have limited space.

SOLD OUT Sunday, April 28, 1pm to 4pm: Post-processing class at A.T. Still University

On Sunday Beth will conduct a Post-Processing Class at A.T. Still University. She will instruct participants in the techniques needed to edit night images to get the best possible result. We will use Lightroom CC for the editing software.
