Workshop Information:

The Valley of the Sun streets are landscaped with date palms, olive and Seville sour orange trees.  Learn the harvest basics of these Phoenix metro heritage trees, ASU’s compost cycle and how to set up a simple kitchen garden in the desert.

 

Presenter Information: Deborah Thirkill

Deborah Thirkill is an ASU alumni that has worked for many years at the Phoenix Zoo, Desert Botanical Garden and for the last five years at ASU Ground Services/Arboretum.   Every year, Deborah coordinates the campus harvest of 4500 pounds of organic dates and 8000 pounds of Seville sour oranges for campus dining halls and the ASU Farmers Market.
