Workshop Information:

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) prohibits discrimination against people with disabilities in employment, transportation, public accommodation, communications, and governmental activities. This session will focus on defining ADA in employment and educating participants on how ADA pertains to our outreach efforts, recruitment, work accommodation, etc. In general, the employment provisions of the ADA require (a) equal opportunity in selecting, testing, and hiring qualified applicants with disabilities; (b) job accommodation for applicants and employees with disabilities when such accommodations would not impose "undue hardship”; (c) equal opportunity in promotion and benefits. Although interactive, this session will not focus on ASU’s internal processing of ADA accommodation requests, rather the overall federal requirements.
