Description

THIS EVENT IS SOLD OUT, BUT STAND-BY ACCESS IS AVAILABLE

Actors bring projects to life, but they often have the least control of the final cut. Because of that, there’s a long tradition of performers taking the creative process into their hands by making their own projects and crafting their own stories and series. In this panel, presented with SAG-AFTRA Foundation and the NYTVF, actors with experience in all facets of production and development will sit down with TV decision-makers for a look at strategies for most effectively spearheading your own work. Panelists will discuss how:

  • Creating your own work benefits your career

  • Learning new skills at a smaller scale can translate to a larger market

  • Acting skills can inform other areas of writing and production

  • Getting noticed is key in a world of “peak” TV and film

This panel is a primer for anyone looking to create their own episodic content, focusing on the do’s and don’ts for making your mark in the age of multi-hyphenates.

Panelists include:

  • Conan Smith (Head of Comedy and TV Packaging, Don Buchwald & Associates)

  • Cole Escola (Co-Creator/Star, Jeffery & Cole Casserole, The First Gay President; Actor, Difficult People, Mozart in the Jungle)

  • Ana Fabrega (Creator/star, Jana and Shasta; NYTVF award-winning Alum)

  • Daniel K. Isaac (Creator/star, According To My Mother; NYTVF award-winning Alum)

  • Josh Poole (Vice President of Development, Above Average)

  • Catie Lazarus (Writer/Host, Employee of the Month, Comedian)
