Description

Come to class with a two-sentence description of your novel (or the one you want to write) and three of the problems you’re having with how to tell the story. By the end of class, you’ll each have a toolbox for mapping your novel.

About the Instructor: Sheena MJ Cook grew up on her family farm in the north of Scotland, has a law degree from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland and an MFA in Literature and Writing from the Bennington Writing Seminars, Vermont, US. She lives in Baltimore, Maryland and Edinburgh. Her short stories and novel extracts have appeared in Two Serious Ladies, Literary Orphans, The Southampton Review, Gutter Magazine, The Potomac Review and Inertia. She is a Hawthornden Fellow. During 2019, she completed a literary mystery, A Tender Hate, under the mentorship of Meg Wolitzer as part of the Stony Brook Southampton Bookends novel-in-a-year program. Her debut novel, In The Secret Places Of The Stairs, set on a Greek island and in a Scottish village, is forthcoming from Einaudi Editore (Italy).
