About the workshop:
This workshop is designed to dive deeper into what makes a good story for performance. Students will come to class with a story in mind, and in addition to group instruction, everyone will have the opportunity to get up in front of the class for 10 minutes of one-on-one coaching.
Note: A pre-requisite worksheet will be sent via email one week prior to the class.
Instructor: Hillary Rea
Each Tell Me A Story workshop focuses on a specific element of storytelling for performance. Take one class or take them all. August's class is all about THE PERFORMANCE.
* Your story structure is prepped, you've planned your laugh lines, you've raised the stakes, now bring all of the pieces to life on stage!
* Experiment with body language, diction, and stage presence to make you feel the most comfortable.
* Practice standing behind a microphone, in front of an audience (your classmmates) in a safe, fun, judgement-free classroom. Learn the basic mic stand mechanics from start to finish.
* Each student will create a mock performance scenario -- from the venue, type of show, your biggest obstacle, etc -- to make this practice session as close to the real performance as possible.
