It has been two years since our last very successful Tax School and we are excited to announce the two-day 2013 Tax School! This year’s program is geared to a broad corporate tax audience. It will be useful for all tax professionals, including: (1) junior to mid-level tax professionals who wish to hear the fundamentals of tax accounting and international tax, (2) more experienced tax professionals who wish to hear the latest hot topics and updates, (3) tax professionals who are changing specialties, (4) those wishing to better understand areas outside their specialty and (5) those desiring refresher courses. Our "professors" for this year’s courses come from Ernst & Young’s Northern California Tax Practice and Baker & McKenzie (for a special Ethics for Tax Professionals session!).
Day 1 of the School will focus on basic tax accounting, advanced tax planning issues and ethics. There will be a choice of two tracks. Track A will cover the "Fundamentals of Tax Accounting Boot Camp." Track B will cover: "Advanced Tax Topics – Updates and Hot Topics" and "Ethics for the Tax Professional". "Ethics" is a new topic for the Tax School and will provide an hour of credit for CPAs and attorneys.
Day 2 of the School will focus in international tax, state and local tax, foreign jurisdiction tax and M&A topics. There will be a choice of three tracks. Track A will cover "Fundamentals of International Tax Boot Camp." Track B’s morning session will cover state & local tax basics, cloud computing issues and legislative updates. Track B’s afternoon session is entitled "Navigating Foreign Country Taxation – Hot Topics/Pitfalls." It will provide lessons on the basics and hot topics in the foreign taxation rules in the various countries such as the BRIC countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China), and the UK. There will also be a session on VAT/Customs rules and issues. Track C will cover "International Tax Hot Topics and M&A", including sessions on the OECD BEPS Project, advanced transfer pricing, international treasury and cash management and M&A (post-merger integrations).
