Teens Behind the Scenes
Take an Inside Look at County Govenment
Have you ever seen a medic respond to a heart attack? Do you know how large a traffic signal is or what it’s like to be behind bars? Teens Behind the Scenes is a new program that takes an exclusive look at the inner workings of Pinellas County government. Once a month from January to April, teens go behind-the-scene to experience first-hand what goes into keeping the county running.
Presented by the county’s Youth Advisory Committee, Teens Behind the Scenes is created by students for students. The sessions will meet from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the site of the featured department.
January 25th Survivor...Public Works - Take a trip to the Public Works building where you take a tour of the building that includes traffic control, water recycling, engineering and more. Click here for a map to Public Works
February 22nd Law & Order - Explore the roles of law enforcement, processing attorneys, defense attorneys and the judge! Click here for a map to the Pinellas County Sherrif's Office
March 21st Most Wanted! - Take a tour of the Pinellas County Jail! This includes intake, maximum security and direct supervision. You will need to fill out this form and bring it with you to be able to take the tour. This form will explain the rules. Click here for a map to Pinellas County Jail
April 18th - 911 101 - Get an up-close look at the Pinellas County EMS system and get the chance to participate in a real first responder's demonstration! Click here for a map to Pinellas County Public Safety Services Center.
April 24th - Awards Night, 6pm - Be on T.V. with your County Commissioners’ and receive your certificate. 6pm. Location: TBA

We will provide a full refund for cancellations made by Pinellas County Extension. Refunds may take up to 30 days to process. Payment - We require full payment at time of reservation so be prepared with a credit card to complete this transaction. Refunds - Refunds will be made in the event of a class cancellation or if the registrant requests a refund 24 hours prior to the class time. Reservations - You must be 18 to make a reservation. If you are under 18 and want to attend a class you must register and attend with a parent or guardian.
