Description

Are You Interested in Health and Nutrition?

Do You Need Volunteer Hours?

BE A TEEN TEACHER!

WHY SHOULD I DO THIS?

• Be part of a program that provides personal growth and development, creates fun and enriching lessons for children, and builds everyone’s commitment to healthy living.
• Build leadership skills and add to your resume.
• VOLUNTEER HOURS! (counts towards Bright Futures)

WHAT WILL I LEARN?

• How to teach younger kids about health, nutrition and fitness.
• How to develop lessons on healthy eating and active play for after-school programs and day camps.
• How to help kids think about what they eat; encourage more fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and water.

WHAT WILL I BE DOING?

Teen Teachers will be part of the Tiny Market program, which brings an actual Farmer’s Market to schools and community centers. Teens will facilitate lessons, games and activities using the Tiny Market theme of healthy living. The program will take place in both summer camps and after-school programs throughout the school year.

HOW DO I SIGN UP?

Teen Teacher training will be held on June 6, 2017, from 9am to 12:30pm at the UF/IFAS Brevard County Extension office located in Cocoa: 3695 Lake Dr. Cocoa, FL 32926.

If you are interested and are 13-18 years old, please contact Angelika Keene or Andrea Lazzari at 321-633-1702.
