Teen Safe Driver Course
ADVANCED INSTRUCTION TO KEEP TEENS
SAFE BEHIND THE WHEEL
Our full-day course combines valuable classroom time with seven instructive driving sessions designed to let participants put their new-found skills into practice behind the wheel of a road car. In the morning, drivers will rotate through four practical sessions concentrating on proper steering technique, skid control and recovery, emergency braking and accident avoidance under braking, and emergency lane changes at 40 mph.
In the afternoon, it’s out onto the slalom course, where we touch on many important aspects of road driving, including the concept of “lateral load transfer”. Following that, we embark on our distracted driver course, which explores ways of avoiding the various forms of distraction lying in wait for modern drivers. Finally, we take our emergency lane change exercises to the next level, empowering students with the tools to perform this vital maneuver at speeds of up to 65 mph.
As a bonus, the time spent on this course can be applied to the 60-hour pre-license driving time requirement for minors.
1. How old does a student need to be?
15 and a half years-old or older with a permit or driver’s license. Adults of any age are also welcome to attend the course.
2. Will lunch be provided?
Students are encouraged to bring a lunch for the hour break.
3. What if it rains?
We run the program rain or shine. We believe running this program in the rain provides an added benefit of learning to drive in more hazardous conditions while under the safety and watch of our trained instructors. Of course, in the case of unsafe levels of rain, the program is subject to cancellation.
4. Does a parent or guardian need to be present?
If a student is under 18-years-old, a parent or guardian is required to be present at the time of check in to sign minor waivers.
5. Will vehicles be provided?
Students will use our fleet of Audi A3 and Audi Q3 vehicles for the course.
6. Can I watch the program?
We encourage guests to watch the opening talk. If they would like to stay for the remainder of the day, they are welcome to view from the sidelines.
7. What time should I arrive?
Arrive no earlier than the time listed on your registration ticket. The registration process will start at the time listed on the ticket and will last approximately 20-30 minutes with the opening talk starting immediately following.
8. Where are you located?
We are located on Turn 1 of Sonoma Raceway in Sonoma, California.
“We had a tremendous time and learned so much that we would not be able to do elsewhere.”
“This should be a required class for any new driver.”
“I learned so much…not to mention the whole day was so much fun!”
“More than I expected.”
