Teen Institute 2013
Friday, October 4, 2013 at 4:00 PM - Sunday, October 6, 2013 at 12:00 PM (PDT)
Angelus Oaks, CA
This institute provides an opportunity to increase the teens’ awareness of the responsibilities they can perform in their local Pathfinder Club, for their fellow man, and for God.
It is not necessary for those attending to have completed all Teen Counselor requirements; however, they should be teens who are serving in local clubs and acting as Teen Counselors and are planning to complete Teen Counselor requirements by the end of the year. Teens must be acting or invested Teen Counselors currently involved in a Pathfinder club.
The club director or secretary must submit the online registration form fifteen (15) days before the convention. Registration deadline is Thursday, September 19. If space permits, any registrations received after the deadline will be charged an additional $20 per person. Also, any changes made after the deadline will incur a $5 fee.
Camp Cedar Falls only has cabins availavle as another group is using the lodge. You must bring your own linens, i.e., sleeping bag, pillow, towel, etc. Accommodations will be limited to male cabins or female cabins. When registering your attendees, we need to know their rooming assignment. You will be contacted if any adjustments need to be made to your reservation.
If you are wanting to pay by church check or bill the church, please select "show other payment options" and then "Pay Offline." The choices are at the end of the registration page.
This year’s theme is "iServe!" with a focus on kingdom building. Meshach Soli and his team are coming back to present! Teens will learn the teachings of Jesus, to internalize those teachings so they really understand them and, hopefully, become devoted to them. Then they will learn about following Jesus and leading others to follow Him as well. The workshops are:
It's Not About Me - workshops based around the meaning of servan-hood; presenter will teach on humility; activities on team work and serving others
Service in the City - workshops on community service and outreach; ideas and resources for teens to help in their areas; might have an actual hands on project to do
Engaging the Mission Field - focus is on mission trips; presenter will focus on overseas missions; ideas and resources
Reviving the Church - focus on service in the local church; equipping teens on how to be more involved in the church; leadership and commitment
Victory at the Home Front - focus on service at home; how to be a servant to your family; integrity, good role modeling, respect and love
Enemies to Frienemies - focus on serving amongst your peers at school; witnessing to those you don't get along with; serving your haters

When & Where
The Pathfinder Club, a church-centered recreational-spiritual program, is designed for both boys and girls. The program offers action, adventure, challenge, and group activities that produce team spirit and loyalty to the church. Pathfinders are encouraged to complete their class studies to learn more about Jesus, by digging deep into the Bible and into God's second book, nature. One of the Pathfinder Clubs' basic purposes is to fulfill the Elijah message of Malachi in which the "hearts of the parents are turned toward their children and the hearts of the children are turned to their parents." As parents and church members work, worship, and play together with the Pathfinders, the so-called generation gap disappears in a bond of common experience. Children learn best by example; the whole Pathfinder philosophy is built on this idea. It is important, then, that spiritually committed, dedicated leaders of high principles be chosen to work with the Pathfinders.
Pine Springs Ranch Fire Update
As a result of the fire that swept through Apple Canyon on July 15, 2013 and the damage incurred, Pine Springs Ranch will not be operational for the remainder of the year. We are in the process of looking into another facility to house us. We should have a facility secured in the next couple of weeks.
For updates on Pine Springs Ranch, visit the Southeastern California Conference website.
