Event description

Description

This TEDxSanDiegoSalon will feature scientist and podcaster Margot Wohl. We will watch her TEDx talk recorded during our 2018 event at the Salk Institute, followed by an audience discussion.

Margot Wohl is a Graduate Student Fellow at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies and neuroscience graduate student at UCSD. Her research centers on how brain cells and the molecules they exchange give rise to aggressive behaviors in fruit flies.

She’s an avid science communicator, producing the KPBS “Rad Scientist” podcast. Her most embarrassing moment was asking John Glenn what the moon was like. She was ten. Can someone please build her a time machine to correct this error?

In addition to hearing about Margot's personal journey to a career in science, her talk gives us a behind-the-scenes look at the production of her Rad Scientist podcast. In the process she encourages us to try new things, to pursue creative endeavors, and in doing so, possibly change the course of our own life.

This is a free event, but requires registration. Thank you to the University Club for providing the venue.
