About the 2020 Theme:

Our 2020 theme is "Leading Change."

You're invited to meet the dreamers and doers who are leading change by sparking new ideas and creating evolutionary and even revolutionary advancements in their fields. They are leading change by challenging us to think differently about ourselves and the world we live in, by developing new technologies, by helping us to better understand the past, and by opening our minds to new possibilities through their performances, art and design.

Together we’ll explore the bold ideas that can help us uplift our communities, build bridges across sectors, and energize us to welcome new technologies and social norms with open minds as we begin our journey into the future. Because of COVID-19 we will be broadcasting a virtual livestream from Washington, DC.

Join us from the comfort of your home and be the first to see our amazing line-up of incredible speakers in advance of being published on the TEDx talks YouTube channel – - with some exciting surprises included in the mix!

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Is there any option to attend the event in person?

Because of COVID-19 we are not allowing the general public to join us in person this year. At this time, we expect to film the majority of our speakers live and in person ahead of the livestream, and there will be a few surprise guests joining in from around the world; however, the audience for the day of filming will be limited to cast, crew and invited guests, and not opened up for general ticketing.

What time will this event run?

We will operate this livestream following the same schedule to a live TEDx event. While timelines are still in the works and ticket holders will receive further information, the event will begin by around 9:00 a.m. with breaks scheduled, wrapping up around 5 p.m. Again, further details are still being worked out and we will send you the event schedule 48 hours prior to the event.

Do I need multiple tickets for multiple individuals in my home?

We've got two levels of tickets for this event: individual and household. The Individual Pass are good for one login for on person on the day of the event. The Household Pass is good for a group, it will give you one login so multiple people can watch the event and allows you to replay the event for one-week following the livestream event.

How many people will be on the livestream for this event?

This is our first time hosting a virtual event, so we aren't completely sure how many folks will be on the livestream. It's quite possible we will have individuals from across the USA and all around the world joining us! We're excited for this livestream because we can accommodate many more people than the physical venue would allow!!

If I can't attend the whole event, is there a lesser price I can pay?

To make things a little easier for everyone involved, we're giving away 500 tickets while supplies last until June 30, 2020. After the free tickets have been claimed, you can still enjoy the full day experience for as little as $25. You can hop on and off as your schedule needs, no problem!

Why is there a charge for this event?

Our normal ticket price for an in-person event is $100, and our virtual ticket price is so much less than this but we do know why you're asking. The fee we charge for this event is to help offset video production and livestream costs as well as last-minute technical costs resulting in additional equipment needs to make a virtual livestream happen. It also helps ensure our livestream can operate smoothly, which is necessary whether there's 1 or 1,000 people in the audience.

What's the refund policy?

Tickets are non-refundable, but they are transferrable. Just reach out to the organizer at the email above for those options within 72 hours prior to the event in order to transfer your ticket and we will make it happen.

Because of COVID-19, things are changing every single minute, and should we be unable to hold this event in any sort of capacity, tickets would be refunded. The TEDxPearlStreet team reserves the right to adjust or change the look and feel of the event to meet the needs of our community. If the event is able to continue in any way, the ticketing system will remain in effect. Thank you for understanding!
