Event Details

At this TEDxMarionCorrectionalSalon we will once again ask a question...

What are you taking with you?

“Short talks and performances by people with ideas, to provoke conversations that matter.”

The talkers, performers and audience will be residents of Marion Correctional joined by guests from the outside.

Attendance is by invitation only. If you have been invited, register and your confirmation and information will follow soon.  If you are registering independently, without an invitation, please proceed, and you will be notified soon if your name can be added to the guest list.

Program will include:

Andrew C. about how the military training he received did not prepare him for his life

Jason F. about the greatest TEDx performance that never was

Joshua M. performing a contemporary dance routine

Derek Mortland about healing his soul after being paralyzed in a racing accident

Speed TEDxing, structured conversation with the speakers and other guests, will follow the talks.

Also there will be plenty of time for spontaneous conversation.

  • When your attendance is confirmed, we will help you prepare for an event inside prison.  There are requirements regarding what you can and cannot bring in with you, appropriate dress, and interactions with each other and the residents.
  • No meal or snack will be served.  Eat before you come. Water will be provided.
  • Hosted by WinWin, Inc. and the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction, Marion Correctional.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. (Subject to certain rules and regulations.)

About TED

TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. Started as a conference in California 26 years ago, TED has grown to support those world-changing ideas with many initiatives.

At a TED conference, the world's leading thinkers and doers are asked to give the talk of their lives in 18 minutes or less. Three major TED events are held each year: The TED Conference takes place every spring in Vancouver, Canada, simultaneous with TEDActive, in Whistler, BC; and the TEDGlobal Conference takes place each summer in Edinburgh, Scotland. On TED.com, talks from TED conferences are shared with the world for free as TED Talks videos. A new TED Talk is posted every weekday.  For information about TED's upcoming conferences, visit http://www.ted.com/registration.
