Description
Are you ready for our largest event to date? Previously, we've only been able to accomodate 100 people, leaving so many on the waiting list. But this time, things are changing...and we plan to intervene..with a TEDxLAU bang!
So many of us live in urban settings, but how many actually form connections with the city and the various initiatives being held?
We plan to dedicate an entire month to further develop this connection. And this month will reach its peak with our 5th salon on Urban In(ter)vention, or Urban Invention.
Our two-hour event is all about connection.
What to Expect?
- Ayssar Arida, an Urbatect who believes architecture is obsolete. [Live TEDx talk in English]. Check out his website and get to know more. Much more!
- Screened TEDTalks on architecture, design, and urban innovation
- Opportunities to form connections with your urban community, and to take action and intervene!
How can you help?
- Register for the salon... And inform any interested accomplices!
- Take part in our Instagram challenge in April (Follow TEDxLAU on Instagram)
- Spot the intervention! Share with us via twitter (@TEDxLAU) and Facebook
- Deploy the Hashtag! (#UrbanInterventionLB)
The city is ours. Let's make our mark!
p.s. Transportation from LAU Byblos will be provided.
About TEDx, x = independently organized event
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. (Subject to certain rules and regulations.)
About TED
TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. Started as a four-day conference in California 26 years ago, TED has grown to support those world-changing ideas with multiple initiatives. At TED, the world's leading thinkers and doers are asked to give the talk of their lives in 18 minutes. Talks are then made available, free, at TED.com. TED speakers have included Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, Elizabeth Gilbert, Sir Richard Branson, Benoit Mandelbrot, Philippe Starck, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Isabel Allende and former UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown. Two major TED events are held each year: The TED Conference takes place every spring in on the West Coast (along with a parallel conference, TEDActive), and TEDGlobal is held each summer in Edinburgh, Scotland.
About the organizer
TEDxLAU is an independently-organized initiative by LAU faculty and students to inspire and promote the community around us. Our mission is to provide the audience with captivating ideas by passionate speakers in the hope of inspiring change-making movements, on small and large scales.
