TEDxGreensboro Salon: Universal Basic Income?
Event Information
Description
Wednesday, February 5 at the UpStage Cabaret at Triad Stage
TEDxGreensboro Salon events are smaller events that involve the audience in a discussion about a single topic. We will share a TED Talk and from time-to-time will add local speakers to build a dialogue with you – the participants. There will be questions, thoughts and ideas that we will ponder and explore.
Come early starting at 5:45 -- pre-order a sandwich dinner that will be waiting when you arrive or bring a snack or dinner with you (Triad Stage will have wine, beer, and soft drinks for sale) and mix and mingle with other TEDx’ers. The program will start promptly at 6:30. Register soon – enrollment is limited.
The February Salon: Universal Basic Income?
As ever-advancing automation threatens to replace humans in the workforce, we often hear the suggestion of "Universal Basic Income" to counteract mass unemployment. UBI has recently received national attention as a part of a presidential candidate's platform. Is society ready for such a program? Would UBI stifle innovation? How might we tackle the practical obstacles of implementing such a plan?
Join us in viewing thought-provoking TED Talks, followed by a moderated discussion.
