Event description

Description

TEDxEmory is an independently organized TED-like event at Emory University that strives to re-create the unique experience found at TED, where the world’s leaders, thinkers, and doers congregate to share what they are most passionate about.

This year, the theme of our main conference is What Makes Your Heart Beat?. Our diverse group of speakers will highlight their own ideas worth spreading, from STEM, social justice, and many other disciplines.

Our inaugural event was held on April 25, 2011 with over 350 people attending an all-day conference with 9 speakers. Each year TEDxEmory has grown, becoming the largest TEDx event in the Southeast and attracting over 750 attendees.

Past emcees and speakers included such distinguished personalities as Tomer Zvulun (Artistic Director of Atlanta Opera), Margaret Edson (Pulitzer Prize-winning Playwright of Wit), Dr. Frans de Waal (Renown Primatologist), Dr. David Hu (Noble Prize Winning Researcher) and Gerald Griggs (Criminal Defense Lawyer). Our conferences also feature our annual Student Speaker Competition winners.

Registration begins at 9:00; opening remarks commence at 10:00. Lunch is included in the price of your ticket.

For additional information on this year's speakers and scheduling information, please go to our website or our event Facebook page for our newest updates.
