Event description
TEDxEasthamptonWomen is an independently organized TEDxWomen event, featuring ideas worth sharing right here in Easthampton.

About this Event

Join us Saturday, December 14th for the 3rd annual

TEDxEasthamptonWomen conference!

Following the theme for this year’s TEDWomen mainstage event, TEDxEasthamptonWomen will speak to the ways in which 2019 is the year to be “Bold + Brilliant” -- without apology. We will be shining a spotlight on dazzling ideas from some extraordinary risk-takers and innovators, and celebrating pioneers making power moves, brilliant people who are just getting started, and those who tirelessly show up as allies and advocates.

TEDxEasthamptonWomen will be one of hundreds of TEDxWomen events happening across the globe, all held between December 5 and December 15, 2019, in tandem with the TEDWomen main stage event. Ours will be a full-day event, featuring a curated selection of extraordinary minds to give idea-based talks on a wide range of subjects, meant to foster learning, inspiration, and wonder – and to provoke conversations that matter. This is a space for self-identified women and gender queer individuals making transformative change and implementing innovative ideas to share their passion with others across the Valley and beyond.

The TED mission is simple: to spread ideas. A great, well-formed idea could be one of two things: either something that’s new and surprising, OR a great basic idea, but with a compelling new argument behind it that challenges beliefs and perspectives.

Our curation team has worked diligently to put together a diverse array of individuals that are able to speak to TED’s mission, and do so from a local perspective. Each of our speakers has their own personal connection to Easthampton and the Pioneer Valley, which we think makes this event all the more special!

This year, we are proud to feature Bold + Brilliant speakers including:

  • Ang Roell
  • Elizabeth Stordeur Pryor, Ph.D.
  • Joli Hamilton
  • Lynne Marie Wanamaker
  • Maya Mintz Coccoluto
  • Mila Getmansky Sherman, Ph.D.
  • Moumita Dasgupta
  • Pam Victor

About TEDx, x = independently organized event

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TED Talks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. (Subject to certain rules and regulations.)

About TED

TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. Started as a four-day conference in California 30 years ago, TED has grown to support its mission with multiple initiatives. The two annual TED Conferences invite the world's leading thinkers and doers to speak for 18 minutes or less. Many of these talks are then made available, free, at TED.com. TED speakers have included Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, Elizabeth Gilbert, Sir Richard Branson, Nandan Nilekani, Philippe Starck, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Sal Khan and Daniel Kahneman.

The annual TED Conference takes place each spring in Vancouver, British Columbia. TED's media initiatives include TED.com, where new TED Talks are posted daily; TED Translators, which provides subtitles and interactive transcripts as well as translations from volunteers worldwide; the educational initiative TED-Ed. TED has established The Audacious Project that takes a collaborative approach to funding ideas with the potential to create change at thrilling scale; TEDx, which supports individuals or groups in hosting local, self- organized TED-style events around the world, and the TED Fellows program, helping world-changing innovators from around the globe to amplify the impact of their remarkable projects and activities.
