Event description

Description

Join us for the first MN event for Technovation Girls 2020 season. This event will have multiple sessions for students and mentors to learn about Technovation Girls curriculum, learn about local nonprofits, and hone their App Inventor skills.

Non-Profit Pitch

To kick off the season, we’re offering an opportunity for app ideation! As part of Technovation Girls, teams of girls build mobile apps to solve a problem in their community. To help facilitate brainstorming, we are inviting local nonprofits to join us and share problems their organization faces in achieving its goals that could be resolved with a mobile app.

The girls are encouraged to start ideating, but not required to select an idea at this event, and multiple teams can work to solve the same problem.

App Inventor Training

This training event will introduce girls and mentors to principles of coding and to the MIT App Inventor tool used as part of the Technovation Girls curriculum. There is a beginner and advanced option for the training session.

Mentor Orientation

Mentors will have a separate training opportunity. Attendees will learn about Technovation Girls, ways to be engaged as mentors, use the MIT App Inventor, and network with others.

***Please note that the training sessions all run concurrently and girls should register either for the beginner or advanced session based on how much experience they have with MIT App Inventor.***
