Technology Tools for the Common Core: Surprisingly Simple Movie-Making and Video Production Using the iPad (K-12- all content areas)

With features such as built-in cameras and a microphone, and the availability of creative apps, iPads provide endless possibilities for users to save and share recorded sound and produce digital movies. Whether it is to practice fluency, act in Reader’s Theater, record scientific observations, or create a digital documentary, students have exciting opportunities to demonstrate learning using iPad technology. Participants will explore apps such as iMovie, GarageBand, Coach’s Eye and many other open-ended creation tools and examine examples of curriculum-based projects. Ample time will be given for hands-on guided practice and idea-sharing. Whether you have one iPad or a class set, you will be able to utilize the technology to support project-based learning across all grade levels and subject areas.

**This session supports CCCS ELA Anchor Standard Speaking and Listening 5- Make strategic use of digital media and visual displays of data to express information and enhance understanding of presentations.

Kristine Scharaldi is an experienced teacher and outstanding staff developer in the area of technology integration in K-12 classrooms, who is back to Kean by popular demand.

Kristine’s workshops will be held from 8:00-2:00 in Hutchinson Hall Room 306 at the Kean University, Union Campus. A continental breakfast will be served and participants may bring a brown bag lunch.

We strongly encourage registrants to “bring your own device” (BYOD), but some iPads are available, if needed. Note that workshop sessions are limited to 20-25 registrants to allow for ongoing interactive hands-on experiences.
