Event description

Description

From virtual reality to mobile apps, technology is transforming the way we approach human rights. What does this new landscape look like? Who is it benefiting from it? And is technology always a force for good?

Join the Human Rights Watch Young Professionals Network as we explore these questions and more with leading Human Rights and Technology experts Cynthia Wong (Human Rights Watch), Sam Gregory (WITNESS), and others.

Light bites and drinks will be provided.

**************

Sam Gregory is the Program Director at WITNESS and teaches human rights and participatory media as an Adjunct Lecturer at the Harvard Kennedy School. WITNESS equips citizen activists around the world with the skills needed to use video and technology to defend and protect their human rights. For more information, visit witness.org

Cynthia Wong is a senior researcher on the Internet and Human Rights. Before joining Human Rights Watch, Wong worked as an attorney at the Center for Democracy & Technology (CDT) and as director of their Project on Global Internet Freedom. Human Rights Watch defends the rights of people worldwide by scrupulously investigating abuses, exposing the facts widely, and pressuring those in power to respect rights and secure justice.
