Making better photographs is as much about skill as it is about creativity, luck and being born with “a gift”. Yes, you can actually learn to make a better photograph, most of us are not born great photographers, we can however become one. Making a better photographer is a combination of experience, knowledge, technique and creative intuition.
This class is designed to deconstruct the technical barriers that prevent us from making the images we want to make. Somewhere between your creative vision for an image and the actual image is a canyon of technical know how. This class is designed to arm you with the techniques needed to narrow that gap and help you make the leap!
Topics to be covered include:
• Getting proper exposure
• Why you should shoot in RAW
• Lens choice: field of view vs distance to subject
• Proper technique for holding and stabilizing your camera
• Metering mode choice
• Which shooting modes to use and why
• Methods to avoid camera shake
• Minimize noise through proper setting choice using the exposure triangle
• Camera settings to maximize image potential
• Tripod vs handholding: when to use which
• Camera shake vs motion blur
• Techniques for taking the sharpest image possible
• Maximize the potential of any camera
You will come away from this Workshop with a better understanding of best practices for capturing better images.
Requirements: Please bring your camera for practice exercises.
